Lettering
Lettering can be used to greatly enhance a memorial
design. All lettering was originally created by
hand cutting the letter. Nowadays most is created
using a computer, a rubber stencil which is put
onto the memorial and a sandblaster. It would
then be finished using paint, lead or gild in
the original way. We offer client's the choice
of hand cut letters or sandblasted letters.
There are four main styles: roman, block, Old
English and script with many more available such
as Celtic. The use of one or more styles and italics
helps create differences in the text.
Some styles of lettering are not appropriate
for certain finishes and some finishes are not
suitable for certain stones. The table opposite
is for use as a guide to the best lettering for
each type of stone.
We have carried out work involving Chinese, Arabic,
Jewish, Ukrainian and Polish lettering. Any alphabet
can be reproduced.

Selection of texts
The following verses are typical examples of
some of the texts used which may assist you in
selecting the right composition for your loved
one.

Gone but not
forgotten
Brave, Unselfish,
Loving
Beloved by all
Simply the Best
In the midst of life we are in death
To the world he
was just a part
To me he was the world
Memory is a golden chain
That binds us till we meet again
God found the path was growing rough
The hill too steep to climb
So he gently closed her eyelids
And whispered "Peace be Thine"
God is my strength
Love's last gift, remembrance
Too dearly loved
to be forgotten
To me he was the world |
The
Lord is my shepherd
With Christ, which
is far better
Safe in the arms of Jesus
Forever in our
thoughts
Blessed are the pure in heart
For they shall see God
There's a home
for little children
Above the bright blue sky
Suffer little children to come unto me
For such is the kingdom of heaven
R.I.P.
Sleeping
In God's Keeping
Resting
Sadly missed
In our minds a
constant thought
In our hearts a silent sorrow
Her life a beautiful memory
Her absence a silent grief
