Local Funeral Directors’
gets interior makeover
The finishing touches to the total
refurbishment of the interior of Swindon’s
oldest established family owned Funeral Directors
have now been completed.
The premises of A.E.Smith &
Son in Queens Drive, Swindon have been completely
redesigned to provide a comforting and informal
ambience for clients and visitors.
Manager Ian Hanks, who lives in
Wroughton, has been closely involved in selecting
the new design said “We are delighted with
our interior makeover which has totally transformed
the premises. We have already received a number
of very complimentary remarks on the new décor,
all saying how comfortable and pleasant the new
surroundings are.”
The extensive interior design work
included creating a new reception area and private
meeting rooms as well as totally refurbishing
the Chapels of Rest. A new low level ceiling along
with new lighting, curtains and carpeting has
also been installed.
A.E.Smith & Son is part of Lodge
Brothers, a seventh generation family of funeral
directors which was founded by James Lodge in
1780. The company is now wholly owned and managed
by the six members of the Lodge family.
Commenting on the importance of
serving the local community Beverley Lodge, Director
of Lodge Brothers said “The Lodge family
have been caring for local families in their time
of need for 220 years and fully understand the
need for care and compassion. To ensure the premises
of A.E.Smith & Son premises meets the high
standards of other Lodge branches we have spent
around £30,000 on the refurbishment. We
will now shortly be starting work on improving
the exterior of the property.”
