| Bowls sponsorship in Wiltshire
Local family owned funeral directors A.E. Smith & Son of Swindon and E. Wootten & Son of Calne and Chippenham are once again sponsoring four major Wiltshire bowls tournaments.
The county wide sponsorship programme starts on Saturday 17th May with the annual County Benevolent match for the E. Wootten trophy. This is being held at Devizes Bowls Club where West Wilts Bowls League take on Wiltshire Bowls Association.
The funeral directors are also sponsoring the Wiltshire Ladies Coronation Triples, a very popular one day tournament which is played at three different venues. This year the event takes place on Wednesday 23rd July at Highworth, Wroughton and Calne bowls clubs.
The third event receiving financial support is the annual Wiltshire Mens Tourist Trophy. This long established knockout tournament is played throughout the season with the final to be held at Chippenham Bowls Club on Sunday 7th September.
The fourth and final event being sponsored is the Wiltshire County Mixed Doubles Rink. This open knockout tournament starts in May with the final to be played at Devizes Bowls Club on Sunday 14th September.
Explaining their sponsorship of local bowls tournaments, Ian Hanks, Manager of A.E. Smith& Son and E. Wootten & Son, commented “As a family owned funeral directors serving local communities for many generations, we believe it is important that we play our part in supporting and helping to finance local events such as these very popular bowls tournaments.”
