Coronation Triple Winners Crowned in Glorious Sunshine
Bowlers representing clubs from all over Wiltshire recently battled away all day in the annual Wiltshire Ladies Coronation Triples tournament. Unlike last year when the bowlers toiled all day in pouring rain, this time they competed in glorious sunshine.
This very popular event was organised by the Wiltshire Women’s Bowling Association and was once again sponsored by A.E. Smith & Son, the Swindon based funeral directors. The competition was held simultaneously at Highworth, Calne and Wroughton bowls clubs.
The eventual winners at Highworth were E. Morgan, E. Smith and J. Etherington representing the host club. The winning team at Calne was L. Heath, J. Howe and E. Mahoney from Devizes Bowls Club. Over at Wroughton the winning trio was M. Fitzgerald, J. Bull and J. Rowe representing Amesbury Bowls Club.
Janet Seal, Hon. Secretary of the Wiltshire County Women’s Bowling Association commented “Everybody had a wonderful time playing, this year, in warm sunshine. We would like to thank all the teams who entered and congratulate our three winning teams from Highworth, Devizes and Amesbury. We would also like to offer our special thanks to our sponsors A.E.
